AROTEC automates Tire Palletizing with help of Robots

Even today, tires are still largely palletized by hand. The reason: Optimum loading of the pallets is difficult due to the complex design of the tire palletizing patterns. With PALGO@TIRE, AROTEC has developed a tire palletizing software that solves this problem. The robotic systems and the robotic application software is used in numerous plants worldwide.

After the tire palletizing software PALGO@TIRE has calculated the optimum tire palletizing pattern for each tire, more than 800 different tires are palletized by six robots. AROTEC also integrated a tire master computer into the system. It coordinates the six palletizing robots and is connected to other logistics systems, such as material flow computer and forklift control system. The robotic solution significantly increased the efficiency of the tire palletizing.

The robotic solution at a glance:

• Fully automatic palletizing system with six robots mounted on a traversing unit, so that each robot has access to several pallets.
• No pre-sorting of tires required (unmixed tire feeding)
• Output: approx. 21,000 tires per day
• Tire palletizing pattern: chain (rick rack) and horizontal (stovepipe) pattern
• Tire types: Over 800 different tire types, up to 120 tires at the same time.
• No tire deformations and pallet overruns
• Tire data: weight up to 30 kg, tire size from 14-24 inches

Motor-controlled single tire gripper, 3D tire measurement software MEASURE@TIRE, tire palletizing software PALGO@TIRE, robot master computer for an optimal article to pallet assignment (load balancing, routing, warehouse management) incl. web-based graphical user interface for controlling and visualizing the entire palletizing system, robot program, work space analysis, layout planning.
