Offline programming system VMP enables the economic order production of storage containers

For a tank manufacturer, AROTEC automated the cutting and marking of storage containers with plasma cutting technology. The special thing about the solution: The first use of the Visual Motion Planner (VMP), which makes contract manufacturing economical in the first place!

The system uses robots and plasma cutting torches to set markings on the shells and bottoms of storage containers and cut the required openings.

The storage containers with the path and process data are generated order-specifically via a customer-specific interface (GUI) in VMP. The data is then checked in the simulation, tested and corrected if necessary. The data is then exported and stored in a database.

The order data can now be retrieved from the robot controller and processed directly in a parameterized robot program.

Practical test passed: With VMP, production times can be reduced by over 50%!

And: VMP is suitable for all track-guided robot applications such as cutting, welding or gluing!
